I've just placed a decent bed with good odds that Schumacher won't finish the season and I think I may have just made some money biggrin

Wouldn't be surprised to be honest.
However, as far as publicity stunts go...
Entering your maiden season as reigning constructors champions with the most successful driver in Formula One's history is a pretty good way of getting noticed!
Mercedes must be loving this.

Does he have to start the season to finish it?

Officially he is a 2010 F1 driver as of a few weeks ago.

The moment he now pulls out due to crap car, not finishing in the top 10 in any races and generally being embarrassed poor health I win biggrin

I think you maybe underestimating the most successful F1 driver of all time. He is not coming back to be embarrassed. Im sure he would only ever return if he knew he had a good chance hence why Ross Brawn is key. GP2 test shows how serious he is.

Good luck though, Im sure the odds are pretty good. Hard to find good odds on a lot of F1 stuff.

I just have a feeling he's not going to perform as well as he'd like and can do, and with recent comments on Pitpass about Ferrari asking him to race last year and his comments about not wishing to be embarrassed, so no thanks, I think he'll pull out at some stage.

Edited to say I don't underestimate his ability/track record as a driver - he's a god yes

8-1?

Out of interest what odds does he have for the title?

If he starts he will finish he won't want to go down in history with his last season being uncompleted. Pretty sure that car will make him competitive.

I agree. One thing Schumacher is not, is foolish.

Well, we all know what a fitness fanatic this guy is, he's back with the master (Brawn), re his age? (remember Mansell at 40!) I cannot see it as much of a barrier, he's fitter than many half his age, and he looks 10 years younger than he is.

My prediction?
Start, he will do his utmost to finish, no doubt about that.
I reckon he could even win the championship.
Just needs a highly likely, very highly likely imo, volatile erruption between Button and Hamilton (anything could trigger it on or off the circuit), and Mr Schumi is going to a very full advantage of it.

Champion for Ferrari and end your career a Champion in the Silver Arrows, what more could a racing driver ask?

I think you've placed your bet totally the wrong way round.
What are the betting odds of him winning outright I wonder? Might even consider it now.

50/1? I think he will still be competitive so I doubt that he will be asked to leave. The only thing that would make him not finish would be his neck....

I got 8/1 which I think are fair odds.

I also think they indicate (also based on the fact only 1 bookmaker would take the bet), that 'they' are doubtful he'll stay the entire season.
