I am after a bag to carry paperwork around in - i.e like a briefcase but a bit more casual and strapped - like this but cheaper

http://www.marksandspencer.com/Collezione-Leather-...

Would quite like it to double up briefcase style when i am visiting customers.

Something nice and lightweight. also want to avoid a bag that requires too much zipping and buttoning to get it shut.

anyone know a good retailer?

Amateur.

A 'proper' man bag is zipped, with a wrist strap, used to carry keys, moisturiser and other personal accoutrements in order not to spoil the lines of your suit.

Also known as a murse.

I have something very similar to those; much more practical and less formal than a briefcase for the few bits of paperwork I carry. And, the leather is so tough (read cheap) that I think it would survive being kicked around a pub, at worst gaining a bit of character. Pretty sure it was £40, so decent value too.

Sadly, it was an accidental find in a temporary bag shop on Charing Cross Road, and those come and go so fast I doubt it is still there. frown Still, keep an eye out for that kind of shop and hope for the best?

Carefull, you're on a fine line between Briefcase wker and Metrosexual.

You could try looking at Maharishi stuff, exactly the same as army surplus, but with a designer label sewn on.

Crumpler make the best man-bags IMO. But I have a feeling they a) may be a little too casual for you and b) is probably out of your price range. But they are fantastically good quality bags. And hey, with a company slogan of "Crumpler, makes you sexy" you can't go wrong!

A quick google on "messenger bag" led me to this, which may as well be mine barring the price:

Might be a useful site, though...

I have similar shorts, but if I wear them AND a man bag then I might be going dangerously close to ghey.

In Dad mode I should be able to explain anything and I can't explain that. So I used the link in the pic and it's still not explained (as if it ever could be...) but some very funny pics there.
