On my 400SE the lights pop up when I put the sidelights on but the main lights do not light up. Is this normal or is this to do with the Dim Dip system that was around the car industry about this time??

Can I sort it so when the side lights are on the main lights stay down??

Look forward to any pearls of wisdom.
Hi Dave,

I'm not sure how but you started a wiki rather than a thread ?

My '89 400 was exactly the same, headlights pop up but no light. On my car the dim dip module (Black lucas heatsink box velcro'd to the carpet above the fuseboard) was U/S. A bit of research revealed that DIM DIP is not needed for UK MOT's so I disconnected the lead that makes the headlamps pop up. I posted which wire it was somewhere on here. It Looks a lot better !

Here it is linky

Mine do this on the 400SX but they are dim in the pop-up lights too (like 4 sets of sides).

If I were to stop them going up it would make sense to fix this too to save leccy ;^)

Hi Dave,

No problem the question has come up quite a bit so it was good to find a solution. Good luck and don't be blaming me if the pods do something else after you cut the wire. Maybe if you sneak up while they are not looking the pesky pods won't see you coming with the wire snipers..... wink

Yeah it's not a 5 minute job as you have to drop down the fuse / relay board from the bulkhead (assuming it's just sitting on top of the ECU) that's easy bit putting it back is a censored
