Question Time 14/01/10
Discussion
What is the point of Shappi Khorsandi being on the panel? She's a terrible comedienne and a complete intellectual lightweight. Adds nothing to the debate and is there simply to tick the BBC's 'diverse cross section of society' box. Oh, and a Labour supporter to boot - who'd have guessed!?

I think the point about banning Islam4UK was good. If there was grounds to ban, then surely there were grounds to prosecute for incitment to hatred?
I've posted this question in the Islam4uk thread in the News, & Politics section.I quoted the Terrorist Act of 2000.
The definition set out by the Act clearly shows that what Islam4uk stand for and have been saying is clearly in contravention of the Act.
So why have there been no prosecutions. What the hell is the Act there for, if not to stop Groups like this!

Not sure how they pick the audience for the show but it is pre-recorded from 8:00 IIRC.
Goodluck in getting tickets.
Regarding tonights show:
Only Ken Clarke did himself proud, Hain was a fool and showed himself up. That Iranian "comedian" was nothing more than a bbc box ticked, she didn't add anything to the show/discussion. Lib Dem chap Hulme was typical lib dem.
Kelvin Mackenzie, meh.

Hain's definitly one I'd never tire of punching. One of the most self promoting & sanctimonious gits in the cabinet. Goodluck in getting tickets.

They always have random non political guests on the panel. Some do better at adding to the debate, others don't.
The Islam4uk debate was the most clearcut, however I did not know he was receiving so much in benefits. How does he get so much, He earns 6k more a year than I do and I do a full time job and I'm taxed. How can someone show themselves on TV, hate a country yet still have the cheek to take so much from it, causes my head too spin (esp as he won't be the only one one!!)

As someone pointed out, why does the merdia seem eager to allow Chaudray to air his views?
If the media weren't so keen to grant him national access, he would be a nothing.
One of the problems of the moderrn "communication age" is that every pipsqueak, mental, nut case who is half-way articulate and clever at self promotion will be able to get his bonkers view aired. The media are keen to show any sort of freak as they know it will attract an audience.
Not enough people question the way in which our media helps to promote such lunatics.
I am not into banning things, but I would like to see the media exercise a little bit of self control.

But i feel the general public need to take back more control (through laws & legislation it has stiffled our being)

To be fair, Hain has been on a few times and will alwaysbe on a sticky wicket defending UK policy in the Middle East.
I thought he gave some very poor quality answers, was repetitive
and prevented others from speaking.
I see no reason to invite him on again.
Anyone else find it hard not punching the TV when that little 'Kid' (how young did he look) said that it was better for Labour to stay in power as long as possible, because anything was better than having CMD in power!
Are people really that blinkered and narrow minded as to believe CMD would be a step backwards for this country!?
Not advocating the Conservatives (Still not sure how I'd vote), but one thing is for certain.......Nu Labour has been, and will go down on record, as being possible the worst Government in our modern history!
As a 25yr old, I have lived through the Nu Labour years, and I have seen first hand how much worse this country is now compared to where we were 10-12 years ago!
Yes, some things are better (the aspects which even a monkey could get right, due to common sense) but the majority of what this Labour Gov have done has been at the people's expense and detriment!
The fact that comment by that Kid got such a loud 'applause' kind of worried me really. It's almost as if the average person does not realise how Culprable NuLabour are for the whole economic mess we're in!!!!! Not to mention finding ourselves stuck in an Illegal War!!!!!
(Though, maybe it was a very pro labour area...I don't know).

Errr, Finchley wasn't it? Some famous PM from there remember?
That said, easy for a load of north london set to get to....
It made me laugh when Shappi Khorsandi was asked her opinion on the recent Coo attempt on Brown, you could see her mind working on how she could promote or help Labour in some way with her answer, she failed miserably and looked like a blathering idiot.
Also irritated me that she got the last word as Ken Clark was in the middle of explaining something, she added nothing an was so blatently biased it was embarasing.
