Just watched trainspotting for the first time in years and years (probably a decade).

just realised how much it put me off from getting in to the druges scene- it was about the MOST effective anti drugs message i ever saw as a teenager, yet i seem to remember it being piloried as supporting drugs.

did everyone else think the same, or did some people think it was quite cool at the time, and not hugely depressing?

One of my favourite films.

When it was released, there was concern from American censors that it glamourised drugs which explains perhaps why they have such a problem over there.

It set the scene for many others of a similar genre which I think is called "Urbane".

Made in Britain being one and more recently; Fish Tank - both excellent films but require a bit more than simply "watching them"
