Alfa 8C -- its a Ferrari/Masser in disguise
Discussion
The above statement is not disputed - that's why I'm posting here, not the 'why is my Alfa window rusting' section of the Alfa blurb.
And I know the Alfa 8C is a bad, bad, hard, un-developed drive (thanks Mr Clarkson), but I also know it's the most beautiful car on the planet - FACT (and I currently drive an Aston, and still believe in the Alfa). And, I also know its the best sounding car around - mmm maybe FACT, maybe not. I also know it's not selling AT ALL, here in the UK at least. Okay, LHD, and bright red but come on!
I dont work for Hartley or Romans etc, but I do maybe want an 8C.... what is the problem??????
Help Required??!!

Just before Christmas I saw one for sale in a Knaresborough Alfa dealership and the salesman told me they were a rare appreciating classic and he only wanted £160k for it. I said I though it a lot of money for a left hooker. Then he said it was very rare for then to come up for sale. Hmmm.

40 delivered in the UK and 8 are currently for sale in the pistonheads classifieds. Tells all you need to know. Now take your question back to the Alfa section and leave this to the real red supercars
Actually there are 6 for sale , there are also 6 Enzo's for sale so the statistic doesn't really prove anything. Of those six a couple are at Tom Hartleys, 1 at Romans and another at a main FM dealer, I guess despite the badge the original poster might probably find it more useful to ask here that in the Alfa forum especially as most of the underpinnings come from the FM parts bin.As its a left hooker continental prices are a better guide, on mobile.de prices start from 155,000 euros upto 285,000 euros. Seems crazy I know.
I saw one in the flesh at HWM Aston Martin (which is also an Alfa dealership) and looking under the bonnet the 8C looked crude. Where the engine parts of an Aston (half the price) is carefully engineered in high quality materials the Alfa looked basic with poor finish also the cabin was second rate compared to the cheeper Aston. Don't se what all the (apparent) hype is about.
friend has the Spyder, back to back on the mountain roads it was no quicker than my 7 year old 4200, sounds the same just a little deeper. not what I'd want for that outlay TBO.
Roof down it is stunning IMO, strangely it didn't seem to get any more looks from bystanders than normal fast cars though

HI OP,
YOU MUST BUY AN 8C, do not listen to anyone who might persuade you otherwise, there is not a single other modern supercar today that I would drive except this. That is the thing with Alfa's you have got to be brave, and the brave ALWAYS WIN!!!
Get it in that dark metallic red colour with Tan Leather or Black with Red. I am drawn to it like no other modern supercar, probably because you never see them on the road and they are little jewels in the flesh, perfect. Forget Lamborghinis and Ferraris, they are a dime a dozen, GO FOR AN 8C!!!!!
p.s. I dont have one for sale and if you dont fancy yours in a year or two, i will, (sigh) regretfully, take it off your hands!

Very good point, a big thing here is the number made, 500 coupes, that is not a lot considering Ferrari made 1350ish Daytonas and 3900ish Dinos in the Sixties and there is more worldwide money for Supercars today than ever.
I think they are going to be desirable for many years to come and I also think very long term, 20 yrs, they will be very valuable indeed. Anyway, I am going to buy one in the next couple of years and I will enjoy seeing if my theory is correct.
