She just wont start!

Having put the engine back together it will not fire. Fuel pump is now working priming on ignition switch and pressurising the fuel rail.I have sparks at the dissy and plugs.I've taken the plugs out to smell for petrol but fresh air is what I smell. So I guess my injectors are not injecting the jungle juice.Any Ideas appriciated guys!

OK will check the above, whilst fiddling around tonight I found a 2 pin electrical plug which is off.It runs in the same loom as the dissy electrical plug at the back of the engine. It has a black case with a red insert, looks like its off a sensor.Any ideas whats it off? The loom is only about 6in long before it joins the loom of the dissy plug.
Thanks

Thanks Steve,
The only two connections I can see between the Plen and dissy cap are 2 injector plugs on mine,or am I looking in the wrong place?

Rightey dokey, been out and had a closer look and found three connections
I can see the two injection connectors plus this one in the centre of the pic, hope this helps Thanks Steve thats the plug,I beleive its the plug for the Fuel Temp since the sensor is connected to the fuel rail.My fuel rail has no sensor maybe a different set up on my s3,probably because nothing is simple on these things.
I can just imagine them in the factory "yep that loom will, do chuck it in!"
Getting frustrated with this thing now I bought the thing to drive not to sit in my garage for a year!

Relay ok 12v at the injectors.Norman suggested earlier check the dissy just in case it was 180 out and guess what it was!Spent blooddy hours taking my nice clean rocker cover off to find TDC ( didn't realise you had to dismantle everything to get it off). Getting the dissy back in was and still is a nightmare any tips boys I'm about to torch it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Neil

If I was you I would walk away from it for a few Days and forget about it, then when you go back you will have a different approach, You have got this far so putting the Dizzy back in should be a relatively straightforward process.(its a bit late to ask this but why didnt you just move the leads 180 deg, that may have been what it needed and hence why you are struggling now)I have a haynes manual for the 2.9 Sierra somewhere and I can scan the section on the dizzy and email it you if you want.I found it very easy to put the leads back with 1 and 6 reversed when looking at the manuals references as the diagram was a bit confusing.Let me know if you want me to dig the book out.
Thanks Neil
I had this problem last year - used the Haynes manual diagram only to find the leads were shown in the wrong places for the way TVR had set it up
Have you got a photo of the lead position from before you began taking everything apart? This may help put things back together again - or just try moving the leads around one position at a time until you get the engine to start.

I already had swapped the leads around by 180 but I had no joy. Then I thought there may be a sensor in the dissy to sense the position of the cylinders and then it would send that position back to the ECU.Thats why I took the dissy out and turned it to its correct position.I spend two hours last night trying to get it back in no joy! Will try again later with a fresh head and a much calmer approach!

just doing a bit of armchair mechanics whist looking after the baby,When I was inserting the dissy last night I noticed that the oil pump drive was loose,I beleived it was a sort of flexible drive to the oil pump.Having looked at other drives on the net they all seem to be solid shafts with either a hex drive or spline drives at either end.Im thinking that if it is not inserted properly into the oil pump then it would protrude at the dissy end preventing my dissy from sitting properly. Can any one confirm that the drive rod is solid?
I'll have a look tonight when the wife gets home in the meantime my head is going DIZZY!
Thanks Neil

Not sure whether I can help on the diagnostic front (now that you have tried moving round the leads), however, I have also removed my dizzy and it was 'quite fun' getting it back in place.
It doesn't drop 'straight down' it sits at a slight angle with the top pointing slightly to the nearside of the car - then it should, with a bit of 'wiggling', drop in to place.
I though have not yet attempted to re-start my car - so I can't comment on whether I have it back correctly (although it does sit correctly in the place it supposed to be).
