Right, I'll describe the symptoms as best as I can and maybe someone will have suffered this before.

Basically, when ever I click on a hyperlink that opens within the window it works, no probs.

But, when I click on a hyperlink that wants to open in another window, be it a picture in the PH classifieds, the Smilies Legend, Or the Go button on the front page of the Eurotunnel website, it doesn't work, the window opens but the address doesn't appear and the page doesn't do anything. Even Pop Up ads are like this and I can't work out what it is

Anyone any ideas?

What happens if you shift-click a normal link?

The window appears but nothing in the address bar and the window sits dormant doing nothing until it is closed. Thats on a Shitft-CLick and a normal click.

Have a look in your hosts file, cant remember where it lives in 2k but I think its in windowssystem32driversetc otherwise a search will find it (no extension but open with notepad). Are there any entries aside from 127.0.0.1?

But what happens if you shift-click a *normal* link. One that wouldn't normally open a new webpage?

Exactly the same, window opens, white, nothing in address bar, window stays dormant.

Interesting. How about a ctrl-n to open a new window.

It should open a new IE on the current page.

If you manually type a URL into the new (dormant) window what happens?

It'll go to that URL.

I have got into the habit of copying the shortcut, then clicking, and then pasting the URL into the new window.

However, this doesn't work on alot of links because you can't see the shortcut.

Teds links to the pictures in the Classifieds for example.
