Had an email from a recruiter today about this job -

"£22K RETAIL CONSULTANTS NEEDED TO WORK IN MAJOR SHOPPING CENTRES

Our client is a rapidly expanding International retail chain, currently successfully operating in over 125 retail sites in UK shopping centers. Due to recent expansion our client is opening an additional 15 sites across South West England.

This role is a permanent position paying a basic salary of £22,000 per annum. This is not a commission based role (i.e. you will be earning a basic salary of £22,000 guaranteed). You will need to be able to drive as they pay for all your petrol milage, and as an added bonus you get £5 per day for your lunch - in total £26,000 PRORATA. Extremely good opportunity!!

Recruitment Process: -

In order to secure this position you will need to attend a two day training session in our conference centre based in XXXXXX City Centre (2 minutes walk from XXXXXX Central Station on XXXXXXX Way), we are happy to pay for your hotel accomodation to help with your commuting - 15 hotel rooms have already been booked in advance. Training dates are Thursday 28th and Friday 29th January, from 9:30am to 3:30pm. This is where you will meet the Commercial Director and Head of Training for our client – we will send you the training manual prior to attending training to familiarize yourself with.

Successful applicants will be educated to A’ Level or Degree standard. You will need to be bright to pass their company training course (to confirm the training course is free of charge – common question – rest assured).

Please apply now. We look forward to reviewing your CV. This is suitable for a graduate trainee."

Everything is pointing to it not being quite what it seems IMO - the maths dont add up, and it seems far to vague to be anything credible.

Anybody got any thoughts as to what is going on here, and what sort of job this is?

Sounds a bit dodgy to me. 'Training course' is free, so I don't need to pay to be interview. Great.

It sounds like some sort of sales job, but if that is the case, why write the advert like that?

"suitable for a graduate trainee", "you will need to be bright", etc. All very strange!

Sounds like a store / territory manager roll if they are expanding due to added real estate.

Selling mobile phones. Looks like a fairly standard advert to me.

It keeps on reassuring it's not a scam, which makes me think it is one... why would a normal job advert have to assure that?

Exactly. I feel it is one job masquerading as another!

Selling is not my thing - neither are scams!

In that case I would avoid, it's almost certainly one or the other.
