Growl 2009 - charity money?
Discussion
realdeal.....Last year was my first Growl (but not the Griffs) I also had a good time but left Sunday morning as the sun came out
I was interested in bidding on the upgrade stereo but it didnt seem to happen according to schedule, not wishing to be seen to complain as I dont think I would want to arrange such a succesful event, I would also be interested as to how much was eventually raised.

About £1,500, click.
Wasn't there a row about this at the time?
The FFGs posted up on TVRCC but some got all upset because it wasn't here first IIRC.
ETA: Here too: click.
thats great thanks(cant open the first link though as not a member)- does it say whether there was a presentation made and what the final total was?Wasn't there a row about this at the time?

I am not aware of a presentation/final total.(I usually get asked to take pics) As earlier stated I have emailed the FlipFlops for an update without reply, owing to a combination of a new computer and mobile I have managed to loose some phone no's including theirs, anyone have them?
People like me won't have helped the final total much.
I took the remaining memorysticks and sold them for the charity - and anyone who went to the growl and didn't buy one of these for £3 is a numpty, the guys at work couldn't get them off me fast enough at £4ea.
Anyway, I digress.
I only just paid them the money
So, a public apology to the Flippies.
SORRY CHAPS.

Yes, Bob’s right, we’ve been away. Back just over a week and I’ve been really busy so the holiday seems a dim and distant memory!!! And Ian, you didn’t have to own up to being the last to get their money in – I wasn’t going to drop you in it!!
Anyway, to business:
I’ve personally rounded up the amount we raised to £1650. We raised the money at the Growl from donations, entry fees to competitions and bids on the amazing stuff very kindly donated by our Growl Traders. This has already been gift aided to the Charity – Get-A-Head for head and neck disease especially cancer.
By gift aiding the donation Get-A-Head benefit from an additional 28p for every £1 donated. This brings the GRAND TOTAL to £2,112 which is way more than any amount previously raised at a Growl.
This is down to you guys and I love you for it… Get-A-Head is my favourite charity since my surgery for a cancer scare at the end of 2008.
The presentation of a comedy over-sized cheque has not taken place yet – I am in discussions with my surgeon who is one of the Trustees of the Charity, to organise something for when the weather is better and we can maybe get a few cars together for a run out for the presentation. I know the presentation is a bit later this year than usual but I had to wait for additional donations to come in after the Growl (again, you didn’t need to fess up to this Ian but thank you!!), as well as auctioning off the Chimaera Kick Plates after the Growl. So I decided to delay it until we could do it properly – I hope you don’t mind… and the important thing is that the Charity already has the money, the presentation is just about publicity and hopefully a run-out. I will let you all have details of the presentation as soon as I can.
All the items donated were auctioned off, although it did take us a while to get through the MANY kind donations from our Growl Traders who deserve an extra big thank you and some of your business too – please bear them in mind when you need things for your TVRs.
Thank you all again – from the bottom of my heart…!

Just a quick heads-up!
Looking at a Saturday in March for the cheque presentation. First choice is 13th and second choice is 6th Will let you know as soon as my surgeon and the hospital confirm which is best for them.
It will be at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and I'm discussing parking arrangements etc as it's a very busy hospital.
Parking may be restrictive so we might well have to limit the number of cars that can come - it will have to be on a first come first served basis once the actual date is announced.
