Hi all, ive got an 04 m3 cab, 35k, the brake warning light has just come on the the instrument panel, I remember the technician saying they were a bit worn at the last MOT. the car is still under BMW warranty which i extend each yr, was just wondering if

1. i get the brakes changed at an Indy(so OE parts), would the warranty become void?
2. could i get away with uprated pads, or would this also affect the warranty?

Blue Bell the BMW approved specialist in Altrincham, Cheshire, have quoted me £287 for OE pads all round supplied and fitted...

Many thanks

As long as you use GENUINE parts (not OE quality, or OE manufacturer) then the warranty stays in place as long as they've been fitted correctly.
Pads are not covered by warranty anyway so putting some Pagid RS29s on yourself won't ruin your warranty either.

The only things you have to have done at a main stealer to maintain your warranty are scheduled services.

Depends how much extra braking you feel you need.

If you're not going on track then a slightly uprated pad may be all you need, and have the added benefit of reducing brake dust on your wheels.

If you're going to track it a lot, then you'll want to do the cheaper bits first and continue to upgrade until you're at where you want to be. Pads, braided hoses, better brake fluid, bigger disks, bigger/multi-pot calipers (saw some lovely 16" & 8-pot ceramic & monobloc Bugatti stoppers at the Autosport show), etc.
