i just dont get it. What are the patriots and why have i suddenly started playing a PS1 version? And why so many cut scenes? OMG i dont get it.

Playing MGS4 without playing all the other games first (or at least spending a fair amount of time reading up on the back story) is like diving straight into the last series of Lost and expecting to know what is going on.

My all-time favourite series. Love these games. I have got to complete it again actually as I lost all my saves, Had a big-boss rank run through on mgs4 too - that's going to take some time to get back.. Might make a start this afternoon actually.

Same here, my save got corrupted a while ago and after reading this I downloaded a gamesave from the net, I think another play through is due. Up there with the best games ever made IMO.

God I use to have that as my message tone on my mobile years ago, Was wierd if it went off while I was asleep.. Use to jump out of my skin.

I recall playing the first one on my PS1. Gripping storyline, was a bit annoyed by the cuscenes, so decided to skip most of them at first play. Who remembers the Psycho Mantis boss battle?

I also loved Resident Evil series.

Yet to play MGS4, will see how it fairs...

Anyone else still playing this? I fired it up a couple of weeks ago after getting annoyed with MW2, and it's pretty damn good. There's a lot to be said for sneaking around and tranquilizing, it gets pretty tense! The cut-scenes are a bit annoying though.

The attention to detail is great too. I was playing a level a few days ago where I had to follow a guy through a town without him seeing me, whilst at the same time evading patrolling soldiers on foot and in a jeep. I tranquilized a foot soldier, so he was asleep on the floor, and when the jeep came back around it stopped and you could hear "Huh, what's he doing? He's asleep! Come on! Wake up!". Made me chortle as I sneaked past them.

Ah, I think it was you I saw playing it on my friends list that prompted me to have a go!

There's no chance I'll be able to do that in 5 hours, if at all. I'm playing on normal now and just spent about 30 mins cowering at the top of a tower trying to kill that woman with the jet-pack. :shudder:

I think I will give it another play through though when I'm done

I'm very tempted to get involved in this, but I've got so many other games I have to complete I don't want to.

I'm pissed off with the amount of games that I've bought and not completed! I need to get stuck in, but when I fancy a game its usually COD6.

I'm the same, so I stopped buying. I got COD6, MGS4, and a few others with vouchers that I got at Christmas. I've got a stack of nine games here on my desk that I need to Ebay, but for some of them it's not just worth it, so I'll probably trade them in somewhere.

Damn. Really? I'm sure this is Act 4 of 5. I spent about 20 mins hidden under a tank trying to kill Crying Wolf, which I managed to do without losing any health

Brilliant brilliant game, another play through sounds like a very good idea.

On arrival at the start of the battle with Psycho mantis anyone else swap the controller over to port 2 in the PS3 config.

Go through a conversation with Otacon as Snake 'Can't Move' and Otacon questions why have you swapped the controls over?
