When it comes to ridiculously expensive foodstuffs I'd take that ham over truffles of caviar any day of the week.

Lidl were selling hams for £60 over Christmas, so this is not really out the way!

Old pork in a suit? From that gastronomic hotbed called Spain? And they want extra for that?

Fook right off.

It might be a little rich, I've found a 3-year cured acorn fed Jamón Ibérico for as little as £595.

...plus box and apron! smile

No. This is aimed squarely at the fantastically rich and dribblingly stupid. Plenty of them in Selfridges, of course, but no need to join them.

DNA certificate? rofl

Bought a pig leg over from Spain for Christmas, 45 euro from El Lidl.
Tasted bloody lovely and there's something about seting about a big lump of meat with a big knife!

A quick google shopping search, would suggest that if you wanted a Jamón Ibérico acorn fed blah blah ham, you can but it online for less than 420 Euros + P&P biggrin

Spain actually produce some amazing food. I'd probably go as far to say that of all nation's foods, Spanish would be my favourite.

Not exeactly cheap but if you were in either Huelva where the best Jamons come from or in Madrid in the Tienda Museo de Jamons you would be surprised at what a leg oR Shoulder would cost.

I much prefer the Shoulder as it is smaller and has a lot more flavour.

I live here in Spain and paid 30€ for 12 slices on Saturday from our butcher that is 5 Jotas and melts in your mouth.

If you don't live here or appreciate good Jamons I can understand why you would think they are expensive but White foot Jamon & Pato Negra are worlds apart, when you are next in a Spanish restaurant just look on the menu at the price difference for Jamon & the Jamon Iberico and that will not be the best you need to get upwards of 5 Jotas or Cinco Estrellas
