Hi everyone.

Currently own a Scooby WRX 2001, owned from new, with just over 40,000 on the clock. I'm looking to add a power upgrade. The car was fitted with a prodrive pack last year and I guess has pushed the break horse to 260 ish. Now that I've got used to the extra grunt I was wondering what the next step might be, to bring it up to about 300 bh. Just a few questions....

I guess I would be looking at some sort of remap? Would this interfere with the pack already fitted? How much would it cost, roughly?

Finally, would the extra break horse put a strain on the longevity of the engine?

Would appreciate some imput.

Thanks

With the PPP pack you will be lucky if your pushing 240bhp. (the bugeye shape PPP was a bit of a bodge, as opposed to the later cars which had a proper remap) A custom remap will see you at a max of about 270bhp. The blower simply won't push any more air.

For over 300bhp I would say VF34 turbo, injectors, Panel Filter, and remap. An Sti intercooler would also help. You should see 310 bhp, maybe a bit more if its a good one.

You should be ok with the PPP sports cat, they are really quite good.

Vixpy,

Was thinking about having my car remapped: '54-plate WRX with Green air filter, decat centre pipe and noisy backbox. Is it worth it without changing the up/downpipes? Really didn't want to spend loads of money because I'm toying with the idea of an getting an E46 M3 in the summer!

PS - have you ever dealt with Simon from JGM? He seems to have a good reputation.

Best,

Alex

I would say no need to change the up/downpipe on a standard turbo

And I know Simon very well, He maps on my dyno 4 or 5 times a month, knows his stuff
