It has a chain that never needs replacing or adjusting.

Hi Chris. Did you ever take a look on M5board? Not experienced any PDC's errors on mine but here is one of the many threads about it.

cheers, just had a good read about it, seems common. Gonna go and listen to the sensors!!!!! apparently you can hear them tick if they're working correctly. Should look totaly stupid doing this.

It's no different to any other parking sensor on a E39 BMW so don't let the dealers or 'specialists' pull the wool over your eyes when it comes to purchasing!

No offence but if your going to own something special, alot more expensive to run than a mondeo and very fast I would at least expect you to know the basics of the car! tumbleweed

Perhaps a touch harsh but I see what you're saying.

Crux of the matter - he is enquiring about general maintenance and wants to get things done which I applaude. Not everyone is mechanically minded; maybe Chris is but he is still learning, as we all are.

OK - didn't mean to be rude.

Just cant understand how something so basic is not known about a special car, surely if you buy one of these you do it with your heart and as such would have done alot of reading before purchasing. I could understand if it was a new M5 and you used pocket change to purchase thereby demonstrating your walet was bigger than your ability but not with an E39.

I know I know, but at least he is making sure it is in good fettle. IMO you dont have to own a boiler suit and a set of ramps to be an enthusiast. If you're not intersted in mechanics or simply dont have the time then a lot of committed owners just book them into the garage - which is fine with me. I like to give some things a go but some things are beyond me and I have to ask how things are done and how they work.

Anyway, hi Roger.

What you running at the moment? Didn't you sell your E39?
