05 or 06 Gallardo - where are they all?
Discussion
You do get the odd 05/06 but I'd guess the owners are holding onto them. The 06's will probably sell fast too as they are (excluding the SE) the first ones with the upgrades and therefore more desirable. I am looking for an 05SE or 06 car as my budget leftover after house does not quite stretch to the price of 07s. We shall see when the house is bought :-)
Matt i drove an 04 that had been to DMS and been re-mapped to 540bhp it ran very smooth my mate has an 05 he also loved the 04 that had been to DMS was going to send mine there but now going to sell it as it is not going to be used a lot this year as i am working away alot will let you know if he wants to sell his 05.
I have been looking aorund a while and have the following observations:
the 06+ cars have the slightly shorter gearing and some minor suspension and brake mods and as such are to me worth a premium over the older cars. How much premium is of course subjective.
The 05 cars are no different to the 04 cars so I personally look at mileage, condition and history. Currently there are many cars with pricing all over the place. Would you for example pay the same for a 30k miles 05 over an 14k miles 04 car? I am not so sure.
Currently, there are very few 06 cars around. There was an 11k miles 07 coupe manual that sold for around £72k a couple of months ago, what does that make a 20k miles 06 car worth now? Some I have seen are around £70k which seems expensive but maybe the market has firmed considerably in 2 months? Who knows?
I narrowly missed out on an 05MY car (54 plate) at £62k recently with 13k miles with good spec - I would personally pay another £5k or so for an 06 - maybe a little more. The shortage of 06 cars right now means there is a narrow window for sellers to get strong money for their cars if they choose to sell - before they get pushed down by the 07 and newer cars' ongoing depreciation. And this is where I am now - do I pay £68-70k (say) for an 06 car with 20k miles, or do I go for an 04 car with 11k miles with good spec for £55k? I haven't driven an 06 personally so not sure - but at the end of the day when the cars become 6-7 years plus I think mileage will play an increasingly strong role. In this scenario I could own the 04 car for 2 years and it would only then have 20k miles on whereas the more expensive 06 car will have 30k miles etc etc.
Just take your time! In a market where you have 04 cars advertised for £59k with 12k miles, 04 cars with 40k miles at £56k and 05 cars with 23k miles at £61-62k it can get quite confusing - some are taking the piss and some aren't. There should be an 04 car coming on the market soon with 11k miles and glass engine cover (although not heated seats) in the mid-fifites soon so lets see what that looks like - and how that makes me look at the 06+ cars as a result!

Don't know if this helps or not but we've never given less than £60K trade money for an 06MY car, regardless spec, mileage etc. We can easily spend £5K in prep so tread carefully!
Retailable cars a totally different proposition, we're certainly giving more now than this time last year for the same car, even though it's a year older!
I've got a 56 plate car coming this week if you want to PM me I'll send you the details.

You may as well get a spyder for around £75k to £80k if you want a 2006+ model. Paying £70K ish for a coupe 2006 is ludricrous imo.
I am surprised how well these Gallardo have held their prices. I personally would have expected £50k for a 2004 coupe and around £60K ish for a 2006 coupe

Im not sure I have seen any Spyder at all for 75 K, All the ones I seen to see on PH at least are 07 plates and usually well in excess of 90K, A few traders have brought down from 100 K to around 95 K within the last month,
Edit ** A fair start points seems to be about 85 K, a couple on AT for 80 and 81 K.
I want the Orange one from Lambo Manchester
but would need to be under 90 K to really tempt me

Wow, thanks for all the great information.
Compared to buying my current car (Aston Vantage) the Lambo prices do indeed seem to be all over the place.
I may sit tight for a few more months and see if some more 06 / 56 cars make it on to the market then..
I'm in the same boat, have a Vantage V8 but have a Lambo itch to scratch. I think that the Lambo market structure means that prices are ALWAYS all over the place. Bid/ask spreads are way wider for a G versus a Vantage V8 so you see a lot of strange pricing...Compared to buying my current car (Aston Vantage) the Lambo prices do indeed seem to be all over the place.

If the cars have been sat there for a long time at 80k or 90k ... then in my view it indicates the market thinks the price is a bit strong. Some dealers seem to be optimistic on their prices, or have that most sought after of commodities - non-depreciating stock!!
