Hello,

i am the disabled owner of a 2000 330ci convertible........was driving home last night on the dual carriage way when there was a sudden clunk from the car and the whole dashboard warning lights lit up including the steptronic gearbox warning light and i lost my headlights......i immediately pulled over and stopped the car......i then restarted the car and all the dashboard warning lights disappeared except the battery warning light and still no headlights....could this be that the alternator belt has snapped perhaps....it was very late and cold and because of my disability was too difficult for me to check if the belt has snapped??

any ideas greatly received

Are you a memeber of the breakdown services, RAC, AA, Greenflag? Im sure if you called them and told them your predicament they would gladly help you out as soon as possible......

If you tell them what car it is, they may actually carry one to get you mobile again....sometimes they do carry that kind of gear to get you mobile, just depends on how difficult it is to do at the roadside..

Quick update guys

firstly thanks for your help....got the car taken on a flat bed to local garage....had a quick look and alternator belt looked ok....so maybe its the alternator itself or as suggested by the guy with the flatbed a tensioner has failed.......does this sound logical??....battery warning light still on when it was dropped off
