Anyone got a quick list of what's worth checking for before I do a deal?
I could've run you through it Rich yesterday!

Are you looking for a runner ...or just to break for parts?
Check it idles smoothly, rear brake pipes having been done recently, rust on rears, a steel liner bottom end is always nice to see ( you know how to check the engine tag I presume? ), front wishbones/balljoint play. Mostly pretty standard E36 stuff
You'll be able to tell a lot from the drive of it as you've had a few E36s anyway

It's not perfect but it's probably the cheapest 328i sport in the country.
Noticed a couple of niggles on the 200 miles drive home, the tracking could do with setting straight, and there's an annoying squeek every time I press the clutch pedal. The sunroof doesn't work (already knew about that one), there's a nasty induction kit on there that I'll swap for a standard airbox or might even get a Dave F kit. The boot lid needs a bit of paintwork but my freindly BMW breakers has an artic silver 318is coupe in stock so I might pop down there tomorrow and grab a few bits of it.

The clutch pedal is most likely the bushes in it - a cheap job but fiddly
