Hi Guys

Well the Focus RS has held its value pretty well over the past year!

Now with the Roc R and the new Megan Ren Sport arriving on the scene, Do you think the values are going to stay as strong? Thats some tough competition out there.

Im Looking to pick up one soon, but only intend on keeping it for a year max, so dont want to take too much of a nasty hit.

Ive also noticed there seem to be alot of almost new cars around aswell, is this something that reflects they may not be selling to well?...

Im itching to get in a hot hatch again after having a right laugh in my other halfs 500 Abarth, but dont want to be stung on a short term ownership...

Any advise would be great smile

I think the prices will stay strong. A lot of buyers of the RS are Ford guys through & through, like myself & no matter how good the Megane or the Roc is, i would never even look at buying one over the RS!

I think a lot of the del mileage / low miles models for sale in the classifieds are speculators, pre-ordering to make a profit, 6 months ago, i could have sold my RS straight away & made a £6k profit, taking into account i used the scrappage scheme or £4k without!

I would think very few are for sale because the owners didn't like them or weren't impressed by them! (some maybe, not many!)

As for prices, i think you will see prices go down to around £21-22K for a base spec, £22-23K for better specs, colours, mileage etc.

Just my opinion, could be totally wrong of course!
All i will say is, get one, you wont be disappointed!! I'm not! biggrin

On my second RS and it'll take something very special (and affordable) to move me away from the brand as the residuals are great. The specs of the cars usually aren't bad either smile

Nice Collection of mixed thoughts.

I must admit i was thinking the same as AMST.

There just seem to be quite alot about for sale. Sure most are the profiteers, but now they are a little below list, i cant think why they are not selling. Hopefully ford will dry up the production to slow things down a little.

What sort of production numbers are there for the RS?

Ive decided im going to take the plunge and hopefully get a discounted main dealer car.

Now just between the White and Green.. Is it wrong im starting to love the Green!!

Nice!!! Is that yours gareth?

Id go for blue, but the R32 is blue so fancy a change... I like the White, but for some unknown childish reason, the green is begging me to buy it..

Do you think they will be harder to sell? smile

If it is your car garath, how bad is the traction? Ive owned a fair few Hot Hatches over the past few years, and since having the R32 i swore i wouldnt go back to FWD. But the Focus RS wasnt out then wink... Should i worry, or is it ok in the damp if your sensible. Im not talking about full on traffic light GP, but more quick takeoffs at junctions etc?

Im getting excited :P

Yes mate, that is mine, the day i picked it up in July 09!

You have to be a bit careful in the wet & damp with it, but it has so much grip, you really would have to be driving like an idiot to get in serious trouble with it!
1st & 2nd is definately worth taking it easy, as i've found the TC doesn't really handle it! Torque steer can be minimised by setting the steering to sport (stiffest), other than those points it can be as docile as any everyday focus!

On the point of colour, just go with what you like, i went for blue as i just dont like white as a colour on any car, the green is too loud for me (i'm getting on a bit!!) the blue was so i'm not quite so noticed (i know, hard in an RS!) I also think blue is the rarest colour, so in future will work out in 1 of 2 ways, be worth more as fewer examples (think moonstone blue cosworth) or worth less as the colour no one wants!!

Hope thats of some use fella!! biggrin

I don't think they can slow production....I believe they are built as they are ordered and I don't think there is a set amount this time. I do remember hearing about 8000 being made though. Which is why they aren't numbered this time as they aren't limited enough like the MK1

Its the Mk1 I've got. Did have Esc Cos.

I like the Mk2 but its the £25k+ asking price thats making me not be able to afford one just now. Still wouldn't expect it to drop much for a good few years either.

I think production numbers could be the reason they drop. Ive been offered quite a few that are in stock. The other cars i was looking for i just couldnt get hold of.

Id be paying around 28k for the spec id want, and thats too near to my TTS budget. I know they are different cars, but after sitting in a TTS again, i know which id prefer as a daily.

Cor Andy, I know it's the camera and ambient lighting conditions that are accentuating matters, but it really does look like the side skirt is way off in terms of colour in that shot!
