Im off testing at Anglesey on 28/29th of Feb and the Moore Racing Boys are taking the truck with some other cars testing. I hear they also have one of the newly built 2ltr turbo tasmins available for people interested in trying one out. I think its something like 100 quid for 1 or 2 sessions in the car.

Its a similar thing the the Uniroyal Beetle test sessions, if your interested in racing come along and try one. If you take up the offer you get the fee off the rest.

If anyone's interested i'll dig out some more info

Probably a dumb question, but, do you need an MSA licence to take part in the test?

Nope its at a normal track day so all you need is a valid normal driving licence. The idea is to get people interested in racing, and a 300bhp tasmin sounds fun !!! The TVRCC also have a deal on with the ards test at teh mo, where they will pay the 300 quid for the ards test and as long as you do atleast 4 rounds in the tvr challenge cup you dont have to pay it back...

What sort of cost would someone be looking at to hire a car per round?

Wouldn't want to go and buy a car straight off - but would like to give racing a go (dependant on finances of course...).

This is the cost in one of the newly built 2ltr turbo Tasmins
>>>>>
The Prices here are for Cosworth power.
V6 will be marginally cheaper.
Prices also include full support, which as a novice to the series, car etc. it is always best to have someone put the right settings on the car before you go to play.
At least then the Win can be all down to the
"Nut Holding The Wheel"!

There are also a couple of other cars available with differing levels of support and Pricing

Peninsula have 2 cars available i think the ex jack acres and Carolann cars and they are available for purchase, straight forward hire or hire with support.

If you consider that against the cost of say hiring a tuscan it is well cheap, a tuscan could get through 500-1000 worth of tyres at one round, and the engine lease per round is 6-800 quid on it own !!!

Come on you know you want to.. pop down to anglesey and try one out...

That's pretty keen pricing - total budget of around £13-£14k pa, which is about the same as I'm budgeting for the Ginetta series, without the support of a professional team!

As Graham says - get racing!!!

Woody

No need for an MSA licence for the test as it is being done on a Trackday. So you can bring your own car along and make a day of it (it's a bookatrack day at the end of Feb).
