Blackberry not connecting to internet
Discussion
I've got a Curve 8900 and it was fine until about 10am.
It's connected to GPRS but can't send/receive emails or instant messages. SMS/phone is working fine. Can't connect to the internet either, using any browser.
I've tried a battery pull while the phone is on (and one with the phone off). I've also tried the host-route-table registration thing but it hasn't worked either.
Tried o2 customer service as a last resort and was directed to the o2email website where I had to verify my o2 blackberry password but it hasn't helped either.
Any suggestions?
Cheers,

If GPRS is presented in small letters then you're not connected to the RIM data-centre.
The symptoms you describe are of a failure to connect to the RIM data-centre. All email and web browsing goes through their system.
SMS/Phone run through the operator.
You need to call O2 and ask to speak to their technical support team and they should be able to re-establish communication to the RIM structure.

It'll try o2 again.

Well, got through to a helpful chap on their BB tech team.
He tried sending the service books but it didn't work. I logegd into the o2email.co.uk site and tried sending them too. he then asked me to delete all the service books that were on the handheld, pull the battery and see what happens. Did that and nothing.
Few minutes ago I tried a random reboot and some of the service books came back but not all.
Internet now working, instant messaging and email not. And it won't let me set up a new email account. Grrrrrr.

Are you in a good reception area? Sometimes when the service books are resent they don't all get through if the signal is poor.
The answer is to kill all of your service books, reboot the device, make sure its in a good reception area and then resend them.

Yep, service is 5 bars. I deleted them all (apart from the provisions one) and still only got 5 or 6 of them!
Is it worth trying it again do you think?
I'm going to wipe it and restore a backup tonight I think, hopefully that will work.
I'm afraid this happens sometimes and it can take several attempts to get it right. Is it worth trying it again do you think?

A wipe is a good idea.

Well f
k me.
Got home, bb automatically connected to my wifi and bam, got about 15 emails, 30 instant messages and all the service books.

All seems to be working fine now.
That's too unusual the BB will try to obtain service books again if it fails to complete the process the first time.
