Friend of mine had just got divorced and had to move back in with his parents.
He got 5 numbers and the Bonus ball while there. (90 some k)

He gave his parents 10k for all the help through the divorce.

3 weeks later his dad got 5 numbers and the bonus ball, (70 odd k) and gave him the 10k back smile

Apparently the odds of two people in the same house winning 5+bonus is massively higher than actually winnin the jackpot.

All about 7 years ago now.

Although once he had won it the odds of his dad then winning it were no different to anyone else smile

Indeed, but taken together as stated , where the test is "two people in the same house", the odds remain astronomical.

I wonder if, on meeting a lottery jackpot winner, he says "You think that's lucky, wait till you hear what happened to me"?

I once won Lotto and Euromillions in consecutive days. Friday and Saturday. The chance of that must have been very low. A grand total of £16.30

No less likely than any other two people winning the lottery.

There was a guy in a syndicate who had a "Feeling" about a certain set of numbers and so bought an additional line of those numbers for himself. His "feeling" was right, and the numbers came up. I think some of the other syndicate members were a little peeved!

The lady who bought our last house before we left the NE was part of a syndicate that won the jackpot. They all worked at our local Barclays and had been a syndicate for some time. A junior had recently joined the bank and been co-opted onto the syndicate.

A couple of months after joining, the team was getting ready for their annual Christmas party - and being all women they were taking ages to get ready (I think a group of them had met to get ready at one member's house). Being all-a-fluster and knee deep in mascara, the usual ticket-purchaser delegated the task to the new junior and she was then duly sent off to the local shop with the list of numbers.

The Christmas bash was underway in a hotel not far away when the DJ announced the lotto numbers (the lotto was still a novelty then) over the tannoy. The syndicate were excited to learn thay had won a few quid with five numbers and the bonus.

When the junior was asked to 'secure' the lucky ticket, one of the other girls checked it and discovered that the junior had boobed when writing out the numbers when buying the ticket. That 'mistake' of miss-writing one number meant the syndicate actually had all six numbers and the bonus and therefore jackpot (or at least a half share of it).

They won over a million and a half and ended up with something like £130K or so each.

The lady who bought our house told us that winning that money meant she could ditch the husband she had hated since they had married, and set up on her own.
