Jobs with fast cars

...I certainly don't mind getting my hands dirty and I've been valeting cars since I was very young so am pretty good with it and can handle the old mop, so to speak!!!
However I don't think it's an actual career choice for me, (...possibly a franchise or something) although it's already a very populated industry - unless you're extremely high-end and skilled on paint and body corrections I can't see it buying me a Ferrari or paying the mortgage for the next year or so whilst I invest in training!?????

In principle, yes...
However I should elaborate slightly. Clearly as a PH'er I'm very much in to cars but I've been office-bound since 1994. The thing is I'm very good at what I do! (I've just authored a 6-page tutorial/article in the leading 3D Magazine and as a result was asked to provide an image to be championed on the front cover for that issue)
The original post is a bit tongue-in-cheek TBH. However I'm seeing if I get any ideas that point towards the possibility of a change really for no other reason than I'd consider a new challenge!

No idea how you get into it (some sort of race license required?)but how about something like the Porsche Driving Consultants. Basically they take people on test drives and also teach them advanced driving at the test centres/tracks.
Also the type of guys who do the hot lap experiences at Oulton Park, Silverstone etc...

RE: Porsche driving consultants - Sounds great (infact like a dream job) but the skills those guys have is way superior to myself! (everyone thinks they are great drivers until you've sat next to a real one!).
...but I do appreciate that sometimes you have to take 1 step back to go 2 steps forward. It's potential and prospects that I'm interested in persuing (if anything at all - at the moment it's just gassing!). I'm at the awkward stage in my life where I have travelled so far down a certain path it's going to be hard to take a new route. Just exploring possibilities and so welcome suggestions (...and of course generous consultancy offers! LOL!

)You would be very, very lucky to be able to combine your hobby with your career and get a good salary from it. I know it can be done, but its few and far between, but the vast majority of the world work hard so we can afford the playtime.
2 great jobs: I know someone who is a test driver for Aston. Not just the high speed stuff, but his job is to drive it. Every day. In all conditions. To the shops and back. To his house. To the supermarket. Pick up his kids from school in it etc etc. Everything an owner might do. About 20k miles a year. They expect him to crash it. To get carpark dents. A greta job. BUT- there is only one post. And if he ever retires or moves on, there would be a lot of applicants from within the company...
The second job is possibly the best I've ever herad if you are single. When I was a growing up in the 80s, my neighbours Daughter would have been in her early 20s. Her job was to go on holiday. Every week, a different location, and a different Hotel. Soimetimes a 2 star, sometimes a 5 star. Sometimes family friendly, sometimes for grown ups. She had to try all the facilities, and time herself to the shops and beach.
At the end of it- and this was the hard part- she had to write a paragraph about the resort, which then went in the Holiday brochures. As space was limited, she was limited to about 50 words....

There's a job going I know about which involves ferrying models etc around in Maybach's and the like. Also a but of help with wardrobe, dressing etc.

There's a job going at Lotus F1. Although you do need to have some chef skills. Worth an ask!

As a truck driver for DHL, and we handle the logistics side for FOM, I've recently looked into the F1 side of things.

...my current position actually allowed this by mixing CGi and the fact that we can "play" with new models of vehicles prior to them even existing - Sounds great (and it is) although its 99.9% office based. However there's nowhere to progress to within the company that would offer any possibility of significant financial reward other than a token gesture so to speak. The only way I will be able to achieve this is by making a move.So:
- Working hard - yes, very!
- Affording the playtime (and more to the point, the mortgage etc)???? THAT'S the bit that's getting more difficult!
In reality I'm forcing myself to think about making a change that's a long-term benefit financially and if I can find something that ticks the satisfaction box at the same time then all the better!
