Barff in a Dallara

Rob Barff looks forward to an exciting year

Racing driver Rob Barff is getting excited about his next big drive: " I'm very pleased to let fellow PH members  know that I shall be racing a Dallara LMP900 sportscar this season in the new Le Mans Endurance Series. The car will be run by Martin Short's Rollcentre Racing outfit and I shall be driving alongside Joao Barbosa and Martin himself ."
More details of the teams preparations and plans will be announced shortly - meanwhile here are the key dates:
  • Sebring 12hrs: March 20th
  • Le Mans Test Day: April 25th
  • LMES Round 1 Monza: May 9th
  • Le Mans 24hrs: 12/13th June
  • LMES Round 2 Nürburgring: 3rd July
  • LMES Round 3 Silverstone: August 14th
  • LMES Round 4 Spa: September 12th
The Le Mans Endurance Series is a new championship, all the races are 1000km in duration and both the Nürburgring & Silverstone events will start later in the day and run into the twilight hours.
The first race on our calendar is the Sebring 12 Hours (the opening round of the 2004 American Le Mans Series), the race is physically and mechanically demanding and will be a good shakedown prior to the Le Mans test day.
Pre-Sebring testing begins at Silverstone on February 20th before three days at Estoril in Portugal later in the month.
Barff concluded: "I can't wait to get cracking - having seen the Dallara at Martin's St.Ives workshop it is an awesome racing car and I'm looking forward to the coming season enormously! "

Anyone know if the test session on the 20th is open to spectators?

I would imagine its just a general test day at Silverstone, so it should be open to anyone.

Could throw up some interesting speed differences then. Hmmm, Dallara vs. Might Mini

Well done Rob, this is a cracking opportunity in a damn good car - and team. Working with Cushty et al again, too! (Shame Dicky didn't make the jump also.) I may take the 20th off and wander up the road to see the Dallara in action.

Pun intended given the driver?

Good luck Rob, it'll certainly be an interesting and challenging ride.

20th is open for viewing

....there may well be an "interesting" guest driver providing some feedback.
