Hello

I was told that it would cost £299 plus VAT to have a HIP on a studio flat (no bedroom) in Aylesbury ?

Is the price correct or am I being ripped off ?

It's probably about right. You might get it for a bit less if you hunt on the web. Try: http://www.valuhips.co.uk/

Leasehold properties probably cost a little more to prepare a HIP for than freehold, due to the extra information required.

I used HIP Manager I think. It cost less than £200. It was pretty easy to do and very quick.

The price is within the usual range (in fact it is pretty cheap).

I think you might be fooled into thinking that legal work (for that is what it is) on a small property would somehow be cheaper than it would be for a big property. Sorry to say, that the total amount of conveyancing required on your property is likely to be greater than (and more expensive than) the average three bed semi or four bed detached.

Many people swear by the cheap hip providers (just google away). Whether or not it turns out cheaper in the end is a debatable point. Anything less than £300 is pretty good.

Best of luck with your move, by the way. Trading up?
