I need to go into Whitechapel tomorrow, but not until 3:00pm.
Thought I would get down there before lunch and do a bit of sight-seeing whilst I'm there,
Houses of Parliment, Westminster etc as I'll have a few hours to kill.

Whats the best way to travel around, can you buy "Travel Anywhere" tube tickets?

I dont have an Oystercard

cheers fo your help

It is, however having looked a national rail site they don't seem to be available for your area, give NR a call.

Agreed, find out what zone you are coming in from and buy the appropriate T/C that will bring you into 1, it will last all day for Trains, Tubes and Buses

Most it should be if you come in after 9:30 ish would be £8

Depends which zones you are using and when you want to travel, but a travelcard is probably your best bet. If you head down to London occasionally then it would be worthwhile to get an Oyster card as they cost £3 for the card as a deposit, returnable on when you hand back the card, and the journeys are a decent amount cheaper. You can either buy a travelcard with your train ticket, if you are travelling that way, or when you arrive at the station.

Hope that helps

As mentioned a day travelcard is what you want, but make sure you buy it after 9.30 as it will be cheaper (off-peak). Decide which zones you will visit as you will need to choose this when buying, it's obviously cheaper if you specifiy zones 1-2 only (Whitechapel is zone 2).

Oysters area available at most stations, I think it's a fiver but includes £2 worth of credit. Get one and bung a fiver on it. Keep it in your wallet and bingo, you're sorted for life.

Cheaper than a travel card with £1.60 per journey (I believe they also cap at the same price if you do a load of trips in one day) and most importantly you don't need to arse around with machines when you get to a busy station ever again

Travelcards aren't available outside London and suburbs (see map)

Best bet is to get a Zone 1 & 2 Travelcard when you get to your mainline station.

Hassle to buy an Oyster IMHO.

They come out of a vending machine. It's like buying a can of coke, except it's not freezing cold when it pops out

You can also just ask at any train station booth, I lose mine fairly frequently, it takes 1 minute to get a new one!
