How would my Toshiba A350D stack up for this game? Really fancy getting into rFactor once my Logitech G25 turns up but only want to buy it if I can play it at a decent framerate. Spec as beneath:-

Also, I appreciate there is a massive multiplayer world with rFactor but whats the career mode/single player mode like?

I think it will work ok with that graphics card. You might have to turn some of the detail down slightly but as its an older game its not too bad.

The single player stuff is ok, but its far better online with real people and there are plenty of servers running all the time.

We are always looking for more people for the rFactor league on Sundays, I think the next series will be TVRs which are great fun.

There is a demo you can download if you want to try it out.

Thanks Holst.

I was a Geoff Crammond nut in my earlier years and would love a 'proper' sim again. Reading through reviews though it seems a minefield of cars, tracks and cost.

What does is cost to run this game? How many car groups and tracks are free?

All cars and track add-ons are free. The only cost is buying the game.

I still use - http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ as it has all/most of the addons to download on it still.

That's right. On the lobby screen that lists online servers you can see the mods being run, cars and tracks which you can download from the website I posted above.

Game arrived today hopefully my G24 will be here early next week. Initial impressions look good and in depth which is always good IMO. Only issue at the moment is trying to sort the resolution. It keeps flicking to 800 x 600 when I want to play it in 1366 x 768 .

What resolution are people playing this game in and is there a way to change it within the game?

Are you using rFactor Config (RF Config) to set it?

Yes, set it to 1366 x 768 32 bit. Looks ok on the laptop but changes to 800 x 600 on my larger monitor

I think it will detect the different monitor and go back to default, you need to set it on the monitor you will be using.

Sorted now mate, ticked the 'v sync' button which must have linked the video outputs or something. One slight issue is that I can't see the helmets when choosing them! I have the BMW special edition 98 game

Annonyingly I may have to get a joypad to tide me over until the wheel arrives. More questions folks!

I saw somewhere a safety car on track, does this happen in single/multiplayer?

Also to what extent are crashes shown. Is it a case if one crash your out and if so in single player are there plenty of AI retirements or are they from the Gran Turismo school of stuck to the racing line no matter what and rarely make an error?

There can be lots of AI retirements, depending on the cars (open wheel cars can be chaos). The AI also depends hugely on the mod or track, and is usually rubbish.

The GTR series has better AI, but rFactor has more variety. I like both!

Depends if the mod maker has made good talent files or not. If not it uses the default AI.

Safety car appears if you have a rolling start or correct flag rules that allow safety cars to appear. Only in race weekends online or offline.
