After seeing the news article on PH I thought it might be useful for us to get together and report more of the potholes that we see out on our travels. AFAIK you an only make a claim for damage to your car if the fault has been reported to the council. I'll post up the links for North and South Lanarkshire just now and if you could post up the link from your local council then that would be great! Hopefully we can get a few more repairs done because of this.

Glasgow City

Used the last year and they fixed within two days; but it was a serious pothole as you could hear cars grounding going over it.

can i be cheeky??
Can someone point out a road in North Lanarkshire that doesnt have lots of potholes?
If I could find a perfectly surfaced road in their area I would drive it!
The comparison with some of the borders councils roads is staggering!
Such a shame as we all pay fortunes in council tax, and the goverernment keep the rest of our massive taxes on motorists!

Can a Freedom of Information request be made if the road is not repaired within a 'reasonable' time?

· Dates of all safety inspections undertaken in the two years preceding the date of alerting council.

· Details of all defects identified during safety inspections in the two years preceding the incident

· Details of how safety inspections are undertaken, including whether walked or driven, the speed of the inspection vehicle and the number of persons in the vehicle.

· The frequency of safety inspections.

· Details of all complaints and/or enquiries received in the two years preceding the incident.

· The road/section number.

· The defect intervention criteria adopted -- how Council define a pothole as requiring attention

· The time periods adopted between identification and repair (temporary and permanent) of all categories of defects.

· Whether or not the authority has formally adopted all or part of the standards contained within the code of practice for maintenance management.

They are really bad at the moment. I could easily have destroyed my Diablo today when out for a drive. Some potholes are about 5 inches or so deep

Bit o/t - but did I see you in your Diablo in the city center Fri night, Mat? Between 9/10-ish I think. I was in the Corner Bar and saw a dark Diablo at the lights, but I don't think it was your plate. Can't be that many dark Diablos in Glasgow!

Couldn't really make out the colour, being dark, and under the sodium streetlights.

Got a few oohs and aahs from the drinkers in the bar anyway smile

Suggestion to all who report pot holes etc on line ---ask for a reciept of e mail -my lot nowdothis ,after I had some reports "going astray " and on second send added my County Councillor in the CC bit --turned out quite a lot of on line reports had "gone missing"-and it was the evidence he needed to wake them up .Oh-yes -got a thank you from him .
