Compact Digital Camera with external microphone?

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my digital IXUS, sadly lost. I'd buy another exactly the same straight away except that I use it for filming my car in events. The IXUS did everything I wanted and even on board shots with it gorilla-poded to the roll cage were good enough quality. Only problem was outside shots and onboards with the roof down had lots of crackle from the wind.

Would an external mike help with this? If so what camera / microphone would you recomend? Say £200 max for camera
