It's all a big lark, isn't it.

Had my renewal through. Went straight to a comparison site, using the same figures, excesses, etc as the renewal quote, and my current insurers came out cheapest - and over £50 cheaper than the renewal quote. One phone call later, "I won't beat around the bush, match your web price and I stay for another 12 months, if not I go" and I miraculously get £52 off the quoted premium.

Makes me spit really that you have to go through this charade - I'd change insurers on principle but that's just more agro.

Im completely with you on the stupid game we have to play, for all insurances, gas, electric, mortgages, mobile phones, breakdown cover, etc....

Was talking to a guy from the states and he said once you take a mortgage out, thats it for life, none of this swapping around getting the best deal every two years, he couldn`t believe the hassle we go to.

Why don`t they just give you the best quote first time ? Maybe they are relying on people to be lazy and not cancel their direct debits, etc...
