Do you ever go through a patch of not being able to spell?
Discussion
This week I've been littering the internet with mis-spellings. Minutes ago I used "discression" instead of "discrecion", and have been mixing up a,i and o whenever there's been a phonetic similarity. Even on the occasions when I catch myself, I still often find myself correcting it, convinced it's not right. It's as though words stop becomming words and just return to a bunch of funny symbols. Is my brain rotting, or am I just getting old?
I put it down to drinking. It kills lots of brain cells, but usually you don't notice them going, until you need to fetch a word out of your brain and the connection isn't there any more so you forget how to spell a word that you know. I think your brain must reconnect somehow, like the terminator rerouting power after being stabbed with a great big spike, but that's my non technical idea of what happens. Forgetting how to spell a word isn't really that bad, but it's the memories of good times that disappear without you even realising that are more worrying.

No.
But I do get this thing where I mean to type one word, my brain is thinking of that word, and my fingers type an entirely different (but a proper) word. That freaks me some times.
I'm definitely guilty of that one as well But I do get this thing where I mean to type one word, my brain is thinking of that word, and my fingers type an entirely different (but a proper) word. That freaks me some times.
