dirty number plate fines! £1000 (tax?)
Discussion
Bonstrums at it again, the news is, he wants to increase patrols booking and taking people to court for dirty number plates that cant be read by scameras!! Upto £1000 !! :O
"the law has existed for many years, but now its time to start enforcing it"
Is the guy obsessed with money raising from speeders???
Its about time we did some in depth research to see if he has any "income" from the cameras, is he on the board of the cameras manafacturers? Does he own a ton of their shares? Is he on comission???
The joke is, I see several times EVERY day, cars wit faulty lights, mobile phone users (but this has dropped dramatically I note), no indications, bad driving, yet they contniue unabided, becasue their is no one to arrest them... only cameras for the speeders. This is just too much for me, bonstrum has tipped my scale of idiocy in power counter..

My rear number plate is always perfectly clean! I just like the perspex panel it sits behind to be nicely steamed up! ('9o's Elan
)
) and duct the steam onto the panel (or if the car overheats, duct the overflow from the header-tank)

I am informed of a biker who uses gear oil and soil on his plate. He has been stopped four times at the last count.
Twice he was told to clean it. Once, the cop cleaned it and once he was fined £30. Nul points.
Hypoid 90 anyone?

Yup just shows that Yob Culture rules in the driving field. Bit like Cardiff on a Friday night...
Incidentally No Registration Plate attracts the same penalty as an obscure one - Level 3 on the standard scale = &1000 (S43,44 VE and Reg Act 1994)

So, you may start off with a clean plate and, somewhere along the journey, your plate has become quite dirty.
How the hell can the driver be at fault?
What, will we have to stop now and then on any journey to check the clarity of the plate just so we can be identified? This is just another example of the ever-increasing police state mentality. Ban, control, wag finger, monitor aaaahhhhh!
