Mobile phone Pairing

How do I pair the phone to my car, I have tried to follow the instructions in the manual but they are useless. Its an E39 with a nokia 6230 and yes I have the code
I just want to know the sequence

Funily enough I've been doing this myself today.

Press the button on the armrest with a speaking mouth on it for a second. Keep your finger on it and turn the ignition to position 1. Keep your finger on the button for a few seconds and release.

Your screen / radio should say something like Bluetooth pairing.

Now switch the bluetooth on on your phone and search for devices. It should find "BMW####". Click on connect on your phone.

It will then ask for the 4 digit passkey. Enter this and the rest should be plane sailing.
