PistonHeads Sunday Service: Event Postponed

Join us at the first Sunday Service of the year at Volkswagen UK's HQ

This is the venue, but the cars will be VWs
This is the venue, but the cars will be VWs
Event Postponed - Please read attached forum thread for more details.

The PistonHeads Sunday Service has become something of a phenomenon recently, with an ever increasing attendance at every meet. As the size of PH SS meets increases it becomes more important for PHers who wish to attend to add their names to the forum attached to the announcement, as it is the only way that we can keep an eye on the numbers. Please also note the maximum number of spaces available so you are aware of when the event it full.

To avoid disappointment at this, the first Sunday Service of 2010, we are heading to another large capacity venue which can hold up to 400 cars within the car park thanks to our friends Volkswagen UK. The Milton Keynes based team will open the doors of their National Learning Centre to PHers on 21st February, and in addition to providing the tarmac and a host of tasty breakfast items they will also lay on a variety of activities throughout the morning:

Take part in technical Q&As with Volkswagen engineers

Watch technical demonstrations in the workshops demonstrating a wide variety of vehicle testing procedures

Enjoy 'The GTI Project' – a 30ft x 40 ft Scalextric track featuring a pair of GTI slot cars. You can see the track (and practice) here

In addition to this, VW UK will display a selection of Wolfsburg's finest including:

Race Touareg 2

Scirocco GT24 Nurburgring 24hr endurance racer

Golf R

Scirocco R

Eibach Scirocco

Golf GTI MkI – VI

Scirocco MkI Storm

Splitscreen camper

The event will run from 09.00 - 13.00 and the entire venue (with the exception of the PH car park) is undercover, so regardless of the weather we will be able to enjoy the morning in warm and dry conditions.

Please add your name to the list on the attached forum if you plan to attend and we would like to extend our thanks to the team at Volkswagen UK for their hard work in arranging this fantastic morning.

Event Postponed - Please read attachedforum thread for more details.

Question...

How do these things play out. I like the idea of mooching around looking at PH's rides etc and indeed I'm sure I can bring something of interest for others. However, I cringe at the idea of my P&J being squeezed into an everdecreasing space with risk of people rubbing the studs of their jeans against my paintwork and opening their doors with a tadd too much boyish enthusiasm - is this event for me??

We've run them for years now, and attract all sorts of exotica (search for Sunday Service from the home page).

The difference with PH meets is that the car park is part of the display, and we spend as much time viewing the readers cars as we do the manufacturers offerings, and respect for the cars is high. It's the only place you'll see a vintage Rolls Royce alongside a Diablo alongside a Clio Trophy and all gain as much respect as the other. Come along, I think you'll be surprised.

You'll be fine. There's always ample room for cars and everyone is kind, courteous and appreciative of other cars.

With you on that - but OTOH I'm looking forward to seeing what does turn up - look at the list so far, definitely a theme forming.

How does the list / event full angle work? I missed out on the one over Christmas because the list was full before I got my name down, then later read loads of posts where people on the list hadn't made it along? Plus people come and go at different times during the event? Is it just a loose guideline?

If I wasn't sure if I could go until nearer the time and just turned up on the day would it be a case of "your names not down you're not coming in"?
