When e-mailing a formal business letter, do you just type the full postal address and make no reference to the fact it has been sent via e-mail? If not, what would you do? Add "sent via e-mail" (where in the document?) or not put the postal address and instead include teh e-mail?

I want to make a good impression so what is the correct etiquette here?

Many thanks in advance

Write it in Word, convert it to pdf (google primopdf for a prog that will do that) and attach it to the e-mail with a covering note.

Best way to do it in my opinion.

I've been asked to attach it as a word document within an e-mail so I have to follow that format I'm afraid. I'm writing as if I had posted it, but I don't know if I should make reference to the fact it has been e-mailed.

Assuming you're not going to add a signature, then just put "Sent by email" where you'd usually sign it, just to explain the lack of signature.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.
