PistonHeads Welsh Weekender: 16th-18th July 2010

Petrolhead Nirvana and PistonHeads present the Welsh Weekender tour

Continuing our quest to introduce you to the best driving roads in the UK, PistonHeads tour partner Petrolhead Nirvana presents the 'Welsh Weekender' tour.

We've come up with a wonderful spa hotel to use as a base and catered for those who want to drive and those who just want to relax. So whilst some jump into the cars and explore the countryside, others can relax in the pool, sauna and the steam room or workout in the gym. (What's that? Ed.) Alternatively we can all go and drive...we just like giving you the option.

We convene at the hotel bar on the Friday evening July 16th to discuss the coming weekend then get an early(ish) night.

On Saturday Morning, we'll be enjoying a leisurely breakfast. It's then that the choice needs to be made. Do you stay at the hotel and enjoy the various facilities such as the 18m heated swimming pool, spa, sauna and steam room and gym, with individual TVs, sound systems and a selection of holistic treatments (at additional cost)?

Or, do you meet us in the car park for a driver's briefing, before heading north and into the Snowdonia National Park for adventures! We'll visit Snowdon, Lake Bala, Betws-Y-Coed and the (in)famous "Evo Triangle" before returning back to the hotel to be re-united with those who stayed behind for dinner and drinks? Tough call.

On Sunday morning, after another hearty Welsh breakfast, we all head south to the Brecon Beacons National Park for some tortuous tarmac action which will, of course, include the famous Black Mountain Road and end at a pub for lunch.

Costs; £197 per person, with a choice of twin and double rooms

A summary of what's included;
2 nights bed and breakfast
3 course dinner on the Saturday night
Sat-Nav files
Walkie talkies
Route info packs
2 tour managers in 2 cars

All you have to pay for is your fuel, dinner on the first night if you want it, lunches and drinks.

For more information or to book online see here and click on 'Welsh Weekender' alternatively give the Petrolhead Nirvana team a call on 0845 838 7363 if you have any questions.

Last time the Thames Valley crowd did this it was a complete blast - the empty military roads were cloud9 and taking the M5 up the Black Mountain switchbacks was epic and tyre-smoking!!!

I agree with John. It's some of the best driving roads I have ever experienced.

Would be nice to do it in my own car though. hehe

It does indeed.

I think we could easily tripple that bill with £200 for petrol and another £200 for alcohol rofl

There are roads in that area of Wales that are 'outside the influence' so to speak... biggrin

(assuming of course they are on the itinerary... Pete?)

Is there any difference if say 2 cars 2 people in a twin room or 1 couple and 1 car and a single with one car in another room? Sounds really good fun and excellent value!

Long story short, price is per person @ £197

So if you come as a couple, you'll pay £197 each.
If you come on your own you'll pay £197 and be sharing a room with someone - presumably a twin room wink

Does that make sense?

Indeed, basically there's no car cost for this tour(unlike our euro tours where we need to factor in cost of eurotunnel/ferries and car parking costs at hotels etc).

so if there are two of you and you both want to bring cars it's still £197 per person.

(i'm not sure i've actually helped make that any clearer have i? biggrin)
