Why is it I get told to drive 5 miles less every week to save the planet, yet these idiots are allowed to create millions of flyers for double glazing?

8 pieces of junk today, E I G H T. Non even addressed to anyone, just 'the occupier'. How much does it cost to recycle and reprint more flyers that no one reads, let alone the damage to the environment.

How's about you fk off and let me drive to work and back to pay Tax on my car, petrol, road tax and my earning. And you stop the fkwits from producing, what I can only imagine, is more CO2 that 5 extra fking miles.

0/10 - I'm sure.

Should see the amount of flyers students get handed out! Streets littered in them.

Junk mail my post? We all get them. RM gets paid to deliver them, right? The ones addressed to ocuppier.

I save all my junk mail up then write "JUNK" on it in black marker pen.. can't be used again then..

Most satisfying shoving it all back in the post box as and when.

I generally just fill up the prepaid envelopes with whatever junk I get and sent it back (ensuring there is nothing to identify me on it).

I go with the idea that if enough of us do it, it will begin to cost them too much to continue if they have to pay for the additional postage, handling & disposal.

Sign up to MPS. Junk mail is reduced considerably.
You can do the telephone one when you're there, takes seconds.

HTH.

Not when they have no address on them. Or do the posties carry a big list and ignore people on it?

You can stop the unaddressed stuff - you have to complain to the local sorting office.

idea Wonder if it would be possible to design a junk-mail-burner powered car?

I generally don't bother using any of the fast food outlets that send us junk mail. Seem to get a different pizza leaflet every day.

It's always 'charity' collections round our way - badly spelled leaflets asking for donations which they then sell on for a profit!! No charity numbers or anything, and often feeble justifcations as to how they help the UK economy. I get about 4 a week at the moment!

It may make you feel better but anything you send back goes straight in the bin anyway, the only people you are annoying is Royal Mail who have to take it all the way back again for no revenue.

you have the wrong idea completely.

add another letterbox to your door and mark them as [your house number]a and [your house number]b

get all propper mail sent to a and put a big bin under b

Then sign up to absolutely everything you can click all the "send my details to third party orgs" boxes.

Then get yourself a wood burning stove

The ones I objected to most were "pre-approved loans" from the banks, particularly when they had my details already filled in. I used to put everything back in the prepaid envelopes (including the original envelope and a couple of bits of old newspapers just to add to the weight and increase what they had to pay) with UNSOLICITED MAIL DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN written across every sheet of paper. If they wrote to me again, I'd do the same thing, with a copy the letter I sent to the Advertising Standards Agency and The Data Protection Officer to complain about the company sending me unsolicited mail (you can do it by email so it costs nothing).

Then I registered with the MPS. I hardly get any junk mail anymore and when I do, it gets stuck in a postage unpaid envelope back to the company asking them to remove my details from their database.

I also make sure I check/uncheck (as appopriate)any forms I fill in to say I don't want to be contacted for marketing.

Yes it was a faff to start with, but it was worth the effort.

I had two this week. Again.
I'm seriously considering putting a sock in each just to make them all work together.

We got the 'We collect all your metal for FREE!' junk last week. It was very nicely typed with a mobile number and everyfing.

Cheeky bds caught me last year while I was sorting things and came to the side gate. 'What are you doing with them old batteries?'. Off - was the 2nd word.
