sky pull the plug on NASCAR
Discussion
A similar thing happened back in 2007 I think it was. NASN had had the rights, but didn't renew or something and Sky didn't pick it up till the second race.
I originally had NASN when they started so that I could watch the Ice Hockey and NASCAR. I stuck with NASN until they were bought out by Setanta even though the only thing I watched was the Hockey. When ESPN started up I didn't subscribe as the only thing I would watch is the Hockey again, but I was just not watching enough to justify the cost.
I've just looked at the ESPN schedule for the next 2 weeks, and the only thing of interest again is the Hockey. As much as I like Football, I have no interest in the Italian, German, Dutch leagues . Basketball\Baseball I could watch if I was really bored. MMA/UFC doesn't appeal, and X Games doesn't do anything for me.
So may have to resort to internet feeds.
Edited to add that ESPN is Free Friday,Saturday and Sunday this week so I may have a look to see what the sport coverage is like.

ESPN or ESPN America will show the 2010 season. However live races may not be shown on free to air. The demand across Europe is there, just think of the huge number of Americans in Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Netherlands and Eastern Europe.
NASCAR will sell their programme pacakge at the best rates available but they may be forced to either sell a highlights package to the UK if advertising slots are not taken up, or a tape delay deal.
My fear is that the big six or seven races may go PPV nd not s part of the subscription.
A decision will be made I believe within a couple of weeks. Otherwise wire up your PC's and download the coverage off of the NASCAR website which does allow live screening if you pay a subscription.

Hi guys , I have just been on the phone to cancel my sky sports because of this . The guy asked why and i informed because of them dropping the nascar cover. He has just phoned back to say it will still be on Sky Sports One this year. I dont if any one else has any further news.
well I hope it is true but I thought Autosport would have known the truth
The guy did ask where i had got the info about them loosing the contract. I told him about it being in autosport. He then checked the sky sports listing and said it was on there , He then kept me hanging on the phone for 10 mins to check with his manager who said they would call me back after checking with the people at the top. They phoned back 45 mins later to confirm the coverage.
Hoping they have got it right as the only thing i watch on Sky sports are Nascar and the Speedway GPs!
