Preparing car for the summer
Discussion
Hi guys
After rebuilding my car to find the clutch fluid still leaking out the box, im now ( a few months later) very close to lifting the engine out again, could someone give me the details of the company i should send the gearbox to for 'strengthening'. As for the leaking fluid would i be right to assume the slave cylinder is the culprit? Im sure the gearbox specialist could find the problem if i cant spot it.
Bondy i recieved mt Drip tray and guards, fitted and they look good, impressed with them considering the cost.
Cant wait to get my beasty going again, treating her to a set of compomotives and also awaiting delivery of the reverie carbon floor extensions and front splitter, hopefully that will reduce the understeer im getting on track.
2010 is going to be a good year! roll on the ring, i will make sure to get plenty footage for you lads too.

what do the reverie floor extensions do ?
They extend out infront of the front wheels filling the large gaps under the front clam making it a properly flat floor, apparantly reducing drag and improve front end downforce, that with the splitter should help a fair bit anyway. They said the cannards (winglets) for the front clam are also necessary to properly balance out the front/rear downforce but i know for a fact they are illegal, not allowed to have blades poking out the front of a car so i will just leave them, not too sure they look good on a titanium car, maybe good on black or a darker colour.

Hi Graham , the box is brand new !! think they want 3k for it which id not bad considering the work has been done to it .........front cannards ....i was going to get a set of these why are they illegal ?? thanks Simon
My box has only done 18k so they are going to strip it and see what condition its in, they told me i could have the new one for 3400. I'd rather just spend the 1k and have mine fully upgraded, even if it only lasts a few years.Your not allowed to have anything sharp protruding from the front of a car as it may slice someone open if you were to hit them, its a health and safety issue.
Have you asked what upgrades the box has got for 3k? Seems to me 1k will not buy many upgrades, only a recondition, may be worth looking into, their boxes with full upgrades normally cost 6k.
Not sure if i have got it correct, is it a standard new box for 3k, or is it with upgrades?
How many miles on the existing clutch/ transmission?

19mm diameter rule for SVA / IVA. Any protruding part facing forwards must be at least that in diameter. So all those thin splitters people put on are illegal as well in fact.andygtt said:
but we are not trying to pass IVA, and your mods only need to pass MoT to be legal.
If you change the car in specification from when it passed the IVA and it wouldn't pass IVA in its new state, it's illegal, full stop. Just because the MOT centres don't pull you up on it doesn't change the fact.In reality you're highly unlikely to have issues over the canards or any other bits, unless you're acting a total tit and they want to throw the book at you in any way they can.
