I've got an evening at a casino coming up soon and i'm planning on taking £100 and using it all on the roulette table. Just wondering what other peoples wins or loses have been on roulette, so what did you start off with and what did you walk away with?

Typically start with whatevers in the bank account, and leave with nothing.

had a couple of "good" nights, where I might have come away a few 100 up on the night, but on the whole I've lost 100's, probably 1000's... so I dont go any more.

I once got 4 of a kind playing the "casino" poker, whatever its called... the odds of which are something linke 4000:1... but they didnt pay anywhere near that. was 30:1 I think, which was a bit of a bugger....

Over time on Roulette you will _always_ lose, as the odds are stacked slightly towards the house (obviously) and it is a game of pure chance.

A friend at uni went to the casino between finals and graduation and turned the last £25 or so of his grant into £650 playing blackjack, as that is a skill game.

Roulette's a mugs game, try and play cards or craps - better odds and more involving, plus you can usually keep your money longer - I've done £50 in 2 spins before!!

BJ is only a skill game if you can count the cards to stack the odds in your favour, even playing the "basic strategy" of hit up to seventeen, split pairs, but not tens, double down of eleven, etc the odds are always in favour of the casino.

All Gambling is tipped toward the casino/host no matter what you play.

Roulette can be won but it can cost you to start. play black/red - some casinos often stop you playing like that though.

A mate of mine played this online and won a small fortune, but it took him ages.

Used to go to our local casino a fair bit after nights out.
Many a night i lost £40 or so!
A few nights i've come out £40 up or so.
Went in with £20 once and left with £220 from playing roulette.
I probably broke even over time though.
My mate played BJ and always came out up, if everyone on the table plays it as a team against the dealer, you can potentially win more + if you can do basic maths you can count the cards.

Can't play craps in a UK casino so thats out.

Roulette is very much a game of chance, there is no system that can win, and winning or losing is very much down to playing at the right time and getting out before you lose any money you made.

It is however great fun and very addictive. £100 won't go very far, as usually the table minimum is five pounds per spin.

Try betting the outside boxes 1-12 or 13-24 25-36 as they pay 3-1 and cover quite a lot of the table.

Horse st, unless you are rain man you can't count against a five deck shoe, and if they think you are even trying they will sling you out, sharp.

Plus of course they do move the cards around.

Even the MIT guys had to make an easy points system to help them know when to bet bigger.

BJ can be a skill game, you can mae stupid mistakes and compund your losses. Problem is if you do too well at it, the house will kick you out.

I played roulette in a casino once, I walked away with every penny I walked in with, I won early on and cashed out my winnings in little bits of paper. I caried on until I lost the rest of my money and cashed out just before I left.

Only the house wins in the long run.

Turned £40 into £10,000 plus on roulette several times. Many times won 3-4k.

Overall, lost more over time.

Try not to go anymore.

I really doubt that. I guess the theory is you double up every time you lose, right? They'll let you play that all day long really.

What's all this rubbish about casinos chucking people out who are doing too well. If you win they're happy and so long as you're not cheating or doing anything suspicious they'll let you play all day. They even give people hotel rooms and tickets for shows just to keep them playing.

Works until you can't cover the bet or you hit the table limit.

Exactly, and it will happen eventually which is why they'll let you play all day long.

I've won a decent amount a few times.
I tend to bet on long odds, pick specific numbers, cover corners and sometimes you can win big (of course other times you just slowly lose all your money!)

Was at Palm Beach in London a while back and started with £100 and left with £600.... which was nice.

It will happen very quickly if you are doubling your stake - you'd hit a limit of £500 in 8 spins if you started off with a fiver.

If they think you are card counting they will ask you to leave, or firmly suggest that you move tables. Very few people can do it well and not give away visual cues. The pattern of betting if you are counting cards is a bit of a giveaway and good casinos will spot it... they spend a lot of money trying to spot it!
