Smaller supercharged engine ~1.8 litre, 240 ish BHP, ~1000-1100kgs, 0-60 in around 6, FWD, LSD, perfect handling, nice 4 pot brakes, and some light wheels (MO's), little in the way of creature comforts (possibly ciggy lighter and a cheap radio).
Sounds like a modified and stripped out R53 MINI Cooper S to me

I think just give me a non-sunroof 205 Gti and at best drop a high revving engine in, perhaps a 106GTi block...and a full group N air filter and exhaust system for a bit of rasp. i think that would be a potent combo... drive it at 10/10's all the time

BMW's 135i engine (3L Twin Turbo)
Power - 350bhp
4WD with the bias towards the back wheels 90/10 untill hard acceleration and then 50/50
Slip Diff - Yes
Weight - As low as possible or as close to 1000kg as possible
Body Style - MK focus rs / New Audi RS3 - Subtle looks unlike the new focus RS
Price - £20/25k
0-60 sub 5 secs
Now that is what id call a hot hatch!
Id buy it as long as it wasnt french!

i guess it would have to be along the same kind of lines as the renault clio Cup cars so a light weight version, no electronic aids, no air con, no abs just the essentials and hopefully a sub 1000Kg package.
the big hurdle for me is deciding which wheels id like to be driven.
Id be very content with a FWD 200-250hp NA screamer be it 4 or 6 cylinder , with quife slip diff, quaife 6 speed sequential box an as light weight as can be. BUT the advanatages of having 4wd especially with a active diffs to send majority of the power to the rear would be great but i reckon you would need another 100hp to really get the benefit given the extra weight of the AWD.
so i guess in essense a combination of the clio cup and golf R32?

All that for less than 25k? And trick 4WD for close to 1000kgs? I suppose we can all dream!Power - 350bhp

Engine - 2.3 duratec NA with 9k redline.
BHP - 225-250
5.5 0-60
145mph
FWD or AWD - hmm, FWD seems to work so far.
LSD - yes.
handling - obviously really good
brakes - 330mm front, 300 rear.
wheels - 17 or 18.
Ideally you'd also want it sub 1250kg.
Actually I think you could solve this by sticking the R500 Duratec in a Mk1 FRS. That would be fun.
