Reading all the brilliant comments about Rick at DMS it's clear he is probably the best Aston independant in the country. Unfortunately for me it's a bit of a trek from Exeter to Derby. I need some work doing on my DB7 Vantage (geometry, suspension bushes, etc) but I'm a bit fed up with paying £120/hour main dealer rates. Can anyone recommend a really good independant in my part of the country? Thanks in advance.

There is a few that I have heard of around London , I was very disappointed with a few experiences with a local dealer and decided to see about alternatives, and after a few internet searches I rang various advertised specialists around London, many of which did not look after the later cars, The conversations alone did not fill me with confidence, I spoke to Rick more as a last resort what a difference, his prices are in my opinion excellant value, and straight forward honest answers, he actually talked me out of sports cats, giving me the pros and cons, and asking why and what I wanted from the car, my point being I would consider using anyone else yes the trip each time is a pain, but the benefits far out way this, after I had my car serviced by Rick the first time there was a noticable difference when I drove home, The last time i called in pretty much unannouced I had a noise, 20 minutes on the car it was fixed amd my wallet was not allowed to leave my pocket, top man and top team, I would recommend just giving him a call, be warned if you do make the trip to Derby omce it will become an annual event.

This guy is superb

I have used him for everything car related with my TVR before; my day to day cars and my A-M's.

Worth a phone call and a chat...

I'd also be interested - my V8V will need servicing in the summer and I'm also near Plymouth.

Thanks,

Chris

May be you should ask Rick if he fancies a working holiday in the South West?
Either that or arrange an AM convoy up to Derby.

Had to bite the bullet in the end and take the car to my local AM dealer. Not cheap but I have to say they have done a terrific job. Full suspension check up, all the geometry reset and various bushes replaced. Car is transformed and drives brilliantly now. If I can just steer clear (excuse the pun) of all the potholes I should have some enjoyed drives. Thanks to all for the advice, cheers

Chiltern Aston,Based in south east worth a call ?

They are both Heritage & also approved to carry out work on the new modles.

The labour rates are attractive aswell !!
