I can't find the heater behind the dash...:-((

I've opened the dash completely and dismantled it but I can't find the heater nor its motor behind it...where are they? I'm in a full attempt of lightening my Griffith and I'm dumping anything is not strictly needed...

The fan and motor is in the inner wing area just below the indicator side repeaters. It is accessed (with difficulty) through the passenger footwell via a rivited and sikaflexed panel.

Thanks...I guess then it's in the driver's footwell in my Griff as it's LHD...I just wanted to be sure before I start my ''excavations''

If you take the light pod out this is what you should see

It'll still be the passenger side in your car Panic. From what I've seen of LHD Griffs, the body is a complete mirror image.

Baretti - mine looks nothing like that - is yours an early one? (ie pre 1996 changes)

Barreti, our earlier cars are different, quite a bit in fact.
The later cars have everything contained in the passenger side footwell area.

I wouldn't put money on the LHD cars following quite the same development path / timeline.... In fact it would be no surprise if they were even the other way round

Certainly better to point out the different implementations and leave the owner to investigate when it comes to the LHD variants IMHO.

Which means? I have the dash completely open,I thought the heater matrix, motor and ancillaries were behind it, should I fix it back in and forget about?

I'm getting pretty confused.

Sorry Panic.

The early (pre-cat) cars have the heater matrix under the dash and the motor down underneath one of the headlight pods pushing air.

The later cars have the heater matrix in the same place under the dash but I believe the motor is attached to the matrix and pulls air up to it.

This pic. is of my '97 500. I assume that the black box is the heater matrix and fan combined. I have also been told that the switch on the front of the box is the inertia cut-off switch. Hope thjis info. helps.
