Heard about the issue of noise along the motorway...is that bad?

I was 17/18 when i had mine, had a bit of an ICE install in the little thing so didnt notice too much noise.. biglaugh but you have to remember its designed as a town and city car, I would imagine you would experience more road noise in the seicento than the corsa..

I dont think they have too much in the way of sound deadening, they are a pretty light car, and to get the best from the engine you really have to wring its neck. Also, they don't fair too well in an accident.

That was mine, I paid £2200 in 2002 for it, it was an S registered Abarth with 34,000 miles.

I think there are more tire options for the standard wheels (13") as linked in your advert, way back when I had mine only 2 companies made the 14" I needed, I paid around 45 a corner for pirelli p6000.

Mine also had issues with clutch cables, cv joints and my 1st gear gave up and wouldn't engage. But, I hammered it everywhere, and it got treated exactly how a F.I.R.E powered fiat should. wink

When my wife started learning to drive, we bought her a Seicento Sporting. It was parked in front of the garage, and I had to move it to get my car out. Loads of times I just didn't bother, because the Seicento was more usably fun. smile

Flat out everywhere with no real risk to your license, typically fizzy little Italian engine that will rev all day long, and although it was a bit roly-poly it actually hung on pretty well in the corners.

Loads of fun, and the only problem we had in three years was that the fuse for the brake lights blew. Twice.

I'd have another. biggrin

I say go for it too. We had little Cinquecento in our garage for many years, exceptional fun and the closest thing to my old Mini. It was a 1995, this photo taken in 2005 so pretty good for a 12yo Italian car - plentiful coatings of Meguiars helps.

Great fun for punting around locally in, not sure I'd do too many long journeys in it though my wife did take it to Penrith and back from Peterborough once. Thinking about it, at the speed she drives noise wouldn't be a problem driving

The other runabout in the middle wasn't half bad either ...

Should have added that other than general servicing the thing ran like clockwork, the only problem we ever really had was the aftermarket alarm system fitted by the previous owner.

Tyres were a bit steep though, 155/65 13's if I remember rightly and only from Pirelli I seem to think.

Try the 14's, 175/50 R14! Really odd ball size!

Good fun wee cars, I've not owned one but have had one as a courtesy car.

Alternatively I've just picked up a reasonable 2000 model Punto Sporting with the 1.25 16v engine and 6 speed box for under a grand. and for nearer 2K you'd get a very nice one.

A good start with Italian motoring anyway.
I also had another Punto Sporting in my early 20s, before all the Alfas.

Great little things, very nearly bought an Abarth instead of my 205 as I'd had a couple of Cinqs before.
It'll probably be slower than your Corsa, and not cope with the motorway and long journeys quite as well, but be 400% more fun and nicer to drive.
