Wonder if anyone has used and could recommend a valeter - preferably one who works at the car owner's home - in the east Midlands/Derbyshire area?

The seats on my car are the notorious BMW cloth ones and were disgusting when I bought the car (expecting to have stripped it by now) and getting worse through wear/water drops etc.

The usual brush in foam stuff has had no effect at all so it looks like I need a professional!

Again, thanks for that - another to consider. I think it will be down to timescale and availability now.

Thanks for all those of oyu who posted or sent e-mails recommending valeters.

In the end I went with Jim White who had photos of work on a similar interior (BMW light grey cloth, that marks up easily and can look v. bad when 'soiled')

Mine was even shabbier as the previous owner(s) had not looked after the car (hence £2000+ straight after purchase sorting faults and re-newing many main parts!) and the interior was far from clean - this hadn't mattered so much when I bought it as I intended to strip and cage it before things went pear shaped here.

However, I can't fault the job. Very nice chap, very good contacts (and very flexible over timings/re-arrangements) and very thorough. The job was interior only and you can see pics of the before (ugh!) and after here

Hi Lost - thanks for this.

Pleased to be of assitance. Thanks for the coffee breaks, too!

Be sure to pick up some rubber mats to lay down over the carpets; should help prolong the life a little more!

Thanks again - Jim

Nice work there jim. Though i dont think there was need for you to highlight the poor condition of the clients car and then show how swirl/hologram free yours was. Saying that, its your site and you can do what you want.

If that's pics of my car (being shown up) don't worry!

The car was bought relatively cheaply as a track car to be before my wife's plans (divorce!) ended that - so the condition wasn't too important.

The interior is now as good as it will get (barring a new set of silver M Power trim pieces ready to go in to lift the darkness) and certainly clean enough and habitable.

Exterior has some issues but they are under way - the arches (usual E46 rust) are to be professionally done by a firm who did my brother's and the paint will be done (a couple of small dings to be dent doctored and the paint refreshed or if necessary re-sprayed before the sale ads.)

The important thing to me was the suspension and brakes (all new and improved) and the engine (titivated by BMW/CA and with new clutch and exhaust etc. so no real issues other than a few visual things sorted/to be sorted.

And yes, I would recommend Jim/use him again.

Jim did a good job LostBMW - especially to that interior...

Francis, pj will be at James B's Ware meet if you are going and he will bring not only the wookie's rod but also the wookie's claw (it scares Gaz!) so there will be ending aplenty if required. Bring your best waschpudel.

I dont think anything is a match for the wookie. The wookies claw does seem cool though, might have to make a purchase.

Thanks all.

Paddy, it was nothing more than 'checking conditions'.. Full sun like that isn't a regular occurrence at the minute; I just thought I'd make the most of it - nothing more, nothing less. I caught the rear wing of the BM in the sun, and, out of interest, wondered how mine was holding up after the winter-washes..

Again, a big thanks to LostBMW. ATB
