SS exhaust system
Discussion
Just fitted a stainless steel exhaust system to my 500 Griff, WOW!! the sound is beautiful and the car is quicker if thats possible , but some advice please, should I have the the ECU re-mapped as at low revs below 2500 rpm the engine is now lumpy, once it reaches 3000 rpm then it really takes off, it revs so much quicker. Is the lumpiness just something that has to be put up with because the pre and main cats are removed.
If rechipping the ECU is advisable then any recommendations where this is best done and of course how much.
Thanks for any advice
regards Simon

having the pre-cats out will affect the readings back to the ecu and mean incorrect fueling.
from lean to very lean i believe.
the main cat does little except affect the gasses into the atmosphere, and make it pass MOT and legislation of course!!
i believe that MARK ADAMS can do a modification (adding resistors) to correct the feed back to the ecu, if not a re-chip may be worth doing as it will release even more BHP! again mark is the man.
when my pre-cts were removed the only problem i head was hotarting (or not) this was cured by a quarer throttle on hot start. easy.
nio probs now. fully chipped etc.etc.
e-mail for marks no.
cheers

Siwes,
Mine's fully decatted and runs very smoothly at all revs.Have you changed the ecu chip?If not you need to get a new chip from the factory(£47)and fit a different tune resistor(£5).The chip's obviously a best 'guesstimate',but,as a cheaper option, mines run ok for the last six months like this. However,to get the optimum out of your engine you'll need to book a session with the ecu 'guru' as mentioned above!!
(I've got mine booked for the end of the month,so,I'll hopefully be able to post some figures for comparison)
