So anyone stayed up and been watching the first slam if the year?

The chap Murray is beating tonight is bloody massive, 6 '9 or something with size 15 feet. Murrays having to work for it but it's a very odd feeling having such confidence when watching someone British play!

Each to their own, plenty of other topics and threads to contribute to!

For what it's worth (probably not much!) I reckon Murray's got a great chance in the Aussie Open; he hasn't come up against a top class opponent yet but he's playing well and I think he's well capable of beating Nadal in the quarter finals (Rafa's improving but still short of his best IMO). If he does beat Nadal it's either Roddick or Cilic in the semi-final and Murray's got the game to beat either of them. I'd probably say Federer is still favourite to come through from the other half of the draw to play Murray in the final but if he slips-up my feeling is that Davydenko is the man most likely to stop him.

Should be an interesting week (at least for those that like tennis!).

Kicks off 19.00 Austrailian time so that's about 6/7am here and I think the BBC have got it on the Red Button.

I honestly think he's got a shot against Rafa who's not on top form at the moment, should be a fantastic match either. Judging by the Hewitt match this morning though, Federer will be another matter entirely...

Murray has already had a great career, but this is the moment when he has always faltered, as you say he has a great chance against nadal, who having watched some of his play is not quite there yet but even a 'not quite there Nadal' is going to be tough...another chance for Murray to take last step, he is sooo close
yes Federer on the other hand, present form is going to win it

If Murray loses the breaker he loses the match imo. He seems to lose it mentally at times. I wonder if this match will get that monkey off his back?
