E36 won't start after attempted reprogramming 3G EWS keyfob
Discussion
Hi. I attempted to reprogramme my 3G EWS keyfob, using the instructions at http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=495... however I was unsuccessful. Now, it seems as if the key isn't coded to the car any more as the car won't unlock or start, however the battery isn't flat. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Thanks.

Ok, there seems to be a little confusion here. First off the 3G alarm system and EWS are seperate systems. Are we talking Z3 or E36? Early E36 didn't have EWS.
Also the 3G alarm system (BMW approved, but not built by them only retrofitted) didn't feature an immobiliser, that was taken care of by EWS which is a BMW system.
So, what was the original fault? car not starting or alarm going off?
Do you have a seperate key and alarm fob? or just one key with buttons on it?
With a little more info I might be able to advise you a bit further.
