4 hours to change a fanbelt - must be a record ?
Discussion
I thought this morning, i'll change my fanbelt that snapped due to it rubbing on the swan neck - quick job I thought ! loosened off all the alternator bolts then the last one to loosen was the support fitted to the oil pump ? bang - snapped the bl#@dy thing off. Needless to say the stud extractors are as much use as a chocolate fireguard so had to drill it out and re-tap it. 4 hrs later its done - must admit it got me thinking is this a record for a quick job or have you guys taken on a quick job that turned into a nightmare? Getting married doesnt count

You need to take some pointers from this guy

Same sort of thing with my 2 week engine change when the 400 went bang at Ettington
1 weekend to get engine out - check
week to clean up engine bay - check
Next weekend to get new engine in and running - 4 months later !! - even had spare 4.5BV engine sitting in garage with new jag injection system and had built up with all new ancillaries !

Well how about two years and counting to do an oil change!Put the old bird up on blocks, drained the oil then thought whilst she's up i'll take a look at her rear end and then it started i was looking for perfection so i started pulling things off and laying them to one side with labels on,before i knew it my head and face were covered!!

Waxoil gets to be a right old mess when its been flicking at you at 100 miles an hour off the end of a wire brush spinning in a drill, then followed taking the engine out
and i took it to V8 developements where for a few bob
they sorted me a new reworked block and heads. Engines back in now and need to sort the wiring, still got to upgrade the rear driveshafts as well but first spendthrift Gordons henchmen want their bit to waste on their lavish half baked ideas before the halfwits get kicked into touch and start blaming everyone but themselves.

There might have been an easier way if you know someone with a portable welder.
I had more or less the same problem with a rusty seat belt bolt, the bolt that goes into the chassis, not the outrigger sill plate.
Anyhow, I'd broken this bolt and the busted off bit stuck out about a quarter of an inch. I had been discussing how to extract the thing with the welder guy I'd used on my chassis when he said "that's easy, watch this...".
What he did was weld a bolt onto the 1/4 inch of old bolt protruding the hole. He then waiting about 10 seconds for cooling and contraction, and the old bolt spun out of the hole like it was buttered.
No drilling, no tapping, no BS... took 20 seconds.
