How to beat this carbon hype
Discussion
I was just browsing my wine club's selection and one of the links says; "Emiliana Vineyards obtains international Carbon Neutral Certification. (19-01-2010)"
I am thinking,- no matter how you go about it, going carbon neutral adds a cost, therefore buying anything from that vineyard will be less value for money than from a vineyard that produces same wine but is not carbon neutral. So by the time you've paid for the bottle, the tax, the cost of carbon neutrality, less money goes towards a good wine.
If we all stopped buying produce from places that are carbon neutral and let them know if there is an opportunity, perhaps we can get busnesses to think twice about joining this mass hysteria train.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see our planet ruined or anything but paying more and more for something that is not conclusively proven is just crap! I would love to see a study done to see what the average living expense has risen by since co2 cutting started. Carbon neutral food, Carbon neutral drink, Carbon neutral bank... I don't see any of the big electricity providers going carbon neutral funny enough so going carbon neutral on wine, when the coal and gas plants are not is like shutting the windows in a house that has no roof in an attempt to keep the rain out...

If you want to see the big electricity providers to go Carbon neutral you will be living in the dark, literally, they can lower the Carbon or off-set it but will never be neutral.
I know, I work in the industry. But that is my point. Let's go nuclear spend all co2 budget on ITER and only THEN can we finally start thinking of going carbon neutral at home, on the road (though that should be already done and at no extra cost to the motorist), and in the drink and food industry... in that order.
